Nuhu specialises in defence and prosecution crime and regulatory law, as well as immigration, asylum and nationality law. He has consistently been ranked in legal directories as a Tier 1 or Band 1 Leading Junior in the fields of immigration and public law. He is a Grade 4 CPS prosecutor and on the “A” Panel of the List of Specialist Regulatory Advocates, maintained by the Health & Safety Executive.
Nuhu regularly prosecutes multi-handed drug conspiracies and offences involving serious violence, fraud and homicide.
Prior to coming to the Bar, he worked for Liberty (‘National Council for Civil Liberties’) as a Legal Volunteer for two years. He was a Governor at Ysgol Iolo Morganwg between 2019 and 2023 and was Chair of the Board of Governors for 2 years. He was one of the pioneering members of ‘Asylum Justice’ in Cardiff – providing pro bono legal advice and representation to asylum seekers unable to obtain Legal Aid.

He is a keen rugby union and Formula 1 racing fan. He played for Cardiff RFC under 19s and under 21s, and for Old Illtydians RFC, Coventry RFC and Glamorgan Wanderers RFC.

Nuhu has extensive experience in conducting cases on behalf of regulatory authorities. He regularly advises and prosecutes on behalf of Local Authorities and Government Departments.
He was appointed to the Attorney General’s Unified List of Prosecuting Advocates in 2006 and after this list was disbanded, he was appointed to the List of Specialist Regulatory Advocates in Health and Safety and Environmental Law in 2016. This panel of specialist counsel in administered on behalf of a number of different bodies, including Natural Resources Wales, the Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency, Care Quality Commission, Office for Rail and Road Regulation and the Office for Nuclear Regulation.
He was appointed to List A of this panel in 2019 and re-appointed in 2024. He also defends individuals and organisations accused of health and safety offences.
Nuhu is a highly regarded and sought after immigration and public law specialist.
He handled the leading case of TD v. Secretary of State for the Home Department [2006] Imm. A. R. 569, which involved the issue of ‘sole responsibility’ within the Immigration Rules in relation to children, entry clearance and family reunification.
