Eifion is a highly experienced specialist family law barrister working predominantly in the areas of public and private children law.

Eifion regularly represents parents, children, children’s guardians, prospective adopters, other family members and intervenors in all aspects of care and adoption proceedings and private children disputes, as well as non-molestation and occupation injunctions.

Eifion has extensive experience of being instructed in all aspects of children law, from the Magistrates Court to the High Court across the whole of South Wales and beyond. This includes dealing the most serious allegations of non-accidental or inflicted injury (including head injuries), sexual abuse and of chronic neglect in public law cases, and with the more complex of private law cases, including those involving allegations of serious domestic abuse, parental alienation, sexual abuse and coercive and controlling behaviour.

Eifion offers thorough and robust representation, yet is approachable and sensitive to the needs and circumstances of each client. He is particularly adept at dealing with vulnerable clients.

Eifion is a fluent Welsh speaker and can conduct conferences and cases through the medium of Welsh where required.

Eifion has extensive experience in dealing with all aspects of public law children cases. He regularly appears across all courts, from the Magistrates Court to the High Court, and often deals with client’s cases from the first interim care/removal hearing through to complex multi day final hearings for care and placement orders and adoption orders.

He also has experience of dealing with cases involving the depravation of liberty and secure accommodation.

Eifion is regularly instructed to represent parents, children, children’s guardians, family members and intervenors in cases involving the most serious of allegations of non-accidental injuries (including head injuries), sexual abuse and chronic neglect. He is particularly adept at dealing sensitively and sympathetically with vulnerable clients, but is nonetheless a thorough and robust advocate.

Eifion often has to engage in dealing with complex medical, scientific and psychological evidence and has particular experience of cross examining expert witnesses on such issues.

He is as comfortable being part of a team with leading counsel as he is acting alone, and has often been led by the silks in chambers. In 2020 and 2021 during the Covid pandemic Eifion appeared as junior to Owen Thomas KC acting for a Local Authority in Hull in a case involving complex allegations of sexual abuse against multiple adults by multiple children. The trial ran for some four months and involved six silks, five leading juniors and eleven juniors. It involved an exceptional amount of meticulous preparation and planning as part of a dedicated team, of which Eifion was an integral part.

Eifion has extensive experience across all aspects of private children law matters which include contested child arrangement order applications for residence and contact (including under the new Pathfinder scheme), specific issue and prohibited steps order applications for changes of name, choice of school, removal from the jurisdiction and internal relocation.

Eifion also has a wealth of experience in dealing with the more complex private law cases at multi day final hearings or fact finding hearings involving contested allegations of physical abuse, sexual abuse, parental alienation and coercive and controlling behaviour. These often involve particularly vulnerable witnesses, CAFCASS officers or Local Authority social workers and expert scientific witnesses.

Eifion is a thorough and robust advocate but is also adept at dealing sensitively and sympathetically with vulnerable clients.

He regularly represents parents and children’s guardians in such matters, as well as intervenors in some cases.
