Dafydd is a highly respected junior barrister specialising in public law proceedings relating to children. He also appears in the Court of Protection.

Dafydd is instructed in all types of complex cases, including those involving serious allegations of inflicted physical injury and sexual abuse.  He has considerable experience of representing vulnerable clients and combines a sensitive manner with robust advocacy.

He is a fluent Welsh speaker and can conduct cases in Welsh.

Before qualifying as a barrister, Dafydd was a canoe slalom athlete, competing internationally for Wales and Great Britain.

Dafydd represents local authorities, parents, children and interveners in all types of public law proceedings, including care proceedings, applications for secure accommodation and matters before the High Court, involving wardship and deprivation of liberty.

He is a busy practitioner, dealing with complex and serious cases, often concerning very serious physical and sexual abuse.

Dafydd appears for local authorities, family members and protected persons in a wide range of Court of Protection matters, including cases concerning deprivation of liberty and capacity to engage in sexual activity and make decisions on medical treatment.

  • Re: I [2020]: Dafydd represented a father in care proceedings who faced allegations of rape, where he argued that he suffered from a rare sleep disorder and was unaware of his actions. Following a lengthy finding of fact hearing that included complex expert evidence, the allegations against him were not found to be proven.
  • Re: I and D [2022] Dafydd was led by Queen’s Counsel on behalf of a local authority in a case involving long-running allegations of sexual abuse. Extensive findings were made by the court.
