Kate is an established family law practitioner, working predominantly in the area of public law children cases. She has a wealth of experience in representing local authorities, parents, children and intervenors. Kate also takes an interest in representing children in private law proceedings, and has experience of representing all parties in applications for deprivation of liberty safeguards.
Kate is regularly instructed in complex cases involving allegations of non-accidental injury and sexual abuse. She has wide experience in representing parties and cross-examining witnesses who are vulnerable due to age, experience or disability. Kate also has substantial skill in dealing with complex and novel legal issues.

Kate was appointed as a Deputy District Judge on the Wales Circuit in July 2024.
Kate also sits as a fee paid judge in the Mental Health Tribunal for England. This has given her insight into the needs of parents and children who have mental health issues and provided valuable experience in supporting people with such difficulties.
Kate is keen to ensure access to justice and was pleased to be the Pro Bono Champion for chambers in 2023.
