Henry accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers’ family law, civil and immigration practice.

Henry is originally from Devon. In his spare time, he enjoys playing football and is a drummer for a local band.

Henry’s Children Act work includes private law and Non-Molestation / Occupation Order Injunctions – to Final Hearing including fact-finding hearings involving serious allegations of domestic violence.

Henry is regularly instructed in financial remedy proceedings including First Directions Appointment (FDA) and Financial Dispute Resolution (FDR) hearings.

Recent instructions have included an application to vary a freezing injunction, successfully opposing a permission to appeal involving final orders for the distribution of more than 7 properties and a hearing concerning the enforceability of a pre-nuptial agreement.

Henry is instructed in asylum, nationality appeals and EEA/EFTA including hearings and drafting Appeal Skeleton Arguments.

Family

  • 2023- Re T: secured several important findings of alienating behaviours against a parent at a final hearing before a Circuit Judge involving over 50 allegations.
  • 2022- Re S: led by Kate Hughes KC in the High Court concerning a dispute over the vaccination of a clinically vulnerable child for Covid-19 and other diseases.
  • 2022- Re O: cross-examined a child regarding allegations of physical abuse perpetrated by a parent towards the child. The judge described the cross-examination as having been conducted “skilfully”, “sensitively” and “intelligently”.
  • 2022- Re L: secured substantial and numerous findings and ‘no contact’ order against a parent concerning allegations coercive control and domestic abuse including threats to send ‘Black Magic’.

Immigration

  • 2021- successful First-Tier Tribunal asylum appeal of a Kurdish Iraqi national in fear of honour-based violence
  • 2021- successful First-Tier Tribunal asylum appeal relating to sur place activities of an Iranian refugee
  • 2021- successful appeal to the Upper Tribunal involving disputed Afghani/Russian nationality risk of return of a Sikh to Kabul.

Henry has led a team of case workers for Cardiff University’s Innocence Project, a pro bono project that investigates and appeals alleged miscarriages of justice. Henry represented the Project at the LawWorks and Attorney General Pro Bono Awards at the House of Commons.

Henry assists prospective advocates by judging mock trial and mooting competitions including at the Wales Commercial Law Association and LEDLET Moot.

 

  • Henry achieved the Lord Justice Holker and the Ann Goddard scholarship from Gray’s Inn.
